Noon and night are very different. The visitors of Bangladesh came to the Adelaide Oval under the cover of sun and clouds. The roar of the tiger rose out of the field. Though less in number, the Tiger fans were giving a good response to the Indian visitors. But as it happens if the victory is not achieved, those spectators stayed behind after the match.
Indian cricket fans rejoiced. However, they were right in praising Bangladesh. Because it was a match where either of the two teams could have won. At one time, Liton Das's innings had a great chance of winning for Bangladesh. But in the end, doom. Lytton's innings of 60 runs off 27 balls went in vain.
However, this opener of Bangladesh was soaked in the rain of praise. He now has the second fastest half-century in this year's T20 World Cup. Liton's 21-ball half-century won Shakib's heart too. After the 5-run loss to India on Wednesday, Shakib Al Hasan was saying in the Adelaide Oval press conference room, "He has been playing very well for the last 2-3 years. T20 may be playing very well this year. If you watch his ODIs or Tests, the last two years have been very good. I think that confidence has come to the T20 format as well. Litton knows how to run.
Shakib thinks this is Liton's merit. He is such a quality cricketer, today was a big opportunity for him. He played according to the quality of player we consider him to be. Not that out of the box. We all know he is capable of playing such an innings.
Liton did well in the match but two other youngsters Hasan Mahmood and Shariful Islam disappointed. Hasan gave 47 in 4 overs with the ball. Shariful also scored 57 runs in the same over. If they could stop the run a little, the target would be less for Bangladesh. Maybe there was a chance to win.
Shakib stood by his teammates to raise such a topic, 'Look, you will learn everything by playing. Someone will bowl well in every match. Some will bowl badly. I never like to comment on anyone in particular. As a team I think we played a good match. Yes, bowling could improve in several places. Not just improvement, I could have done better in some places. Maybe it wasn't because of circumstances or experience. They have a lot to learn from here.
This learning does not end in Bangladesh cricket. This is how the team is repeatedly losing its way. Sometimes the bowler or sometimes the batsmen forget only regrets!
